Summary of Walk
A small group of two participants enjoyed a peaceful and highly personalized bird walk through the green surroundings of Sudhowala, a location known for its forest edges and rich Himalayan foothill birdlife. Although the group was intimate, the outing proved rewarding as participants recorded 12 bird species while learning about bird identification, behaviour, and the importance of conserving local woodland habitats. The relaxed pace allowed for detailed observation and meaningful discussions, making the experience especially enjoyable.
The highlights of the walk included excellent sightings of the magnificent Indian Paradise Flycatcher, the colourful Brown-headed Barbet, and the impressive Greater Yellow-nape Woodpecker, all of which showcased the diversity of forest birds found in the region. Additional woodland species added to the checklist, while the peaceful atmosphere and close interactions with nature left participants with a deeper appreciation of Sudhowala’s birdlife. Despite the smaller species count, the quality of sightings and personal learning experience made the outing highly memorable.
