Summary of Walk
Durga Tekdi, a hillock trail in Pune, Maharashtra, hosted a small bird walk led by guides Akshay and Arpit. Persistent rain kept the turnout modest at just 3 participants and dampened overall bird activity, but the group still managed to record 31 species during the outing.
Despite the weather, the walk delivered a memorable highlight when an Indian Grey Hornbill put on a fine show for the group, along with sightings of the Large Grey Babbler and Common Tailorbird. The smaller group size allowed for a more intimate, focused birding experience, with the guides able to give closer attention to each sighting despite the rain. While the numbers were down compared to other walks, the quality of encounters — particularly the confiding hornbill — made for a satisfying morning on the Tekdi’s slopes.
