Summary of Walk
Kundaim Forest Trail in Goa hosted a wonderful bird walk on 13 September with 16 participants led by guide Joel Fernandes. The session began at 7:30 am with the state bird of Goa, the Flame-throated Bulbul, welcoming the group under pleasant weather, and an icebreaker round of introductions that helped everyone settle in quickly.
The Malabar Grey Hornbill put on a real show during the walk, with two individuals seen perched right above the trail, calling out their characteristic laughing call. The group went on to record 49 species, many of them shy forest birds detected mostly by call, alongside the Dark-fronted Babbler, Yellow-browed Bulbul, Grey-headed Bulbul, and Tawny-bellied Babbler. It was an interactive and rewarding session that showcased the rich forest birdlife of Kundaim.
