About Marasandra Kere

Marasandra Kere is a tranquil freshwater lake surrounded by marshes, open grasslands, agricultural fields, and scattered native trees, creating a rich mosaic of wetland and terrestrial habitats. The lake’s shallow waters, reed beds, mudflats, and seasonal vegetation support a remarkable diversity of aquatic plants, insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and birds. Its peaceful surroundings and healthy wetland ecosystem make it an excellent destination for birdwatching, wildlife photography, and experiencing the natural beauty of Karnataka’s traditional lakes.
The lake attracts an impressive variety of resident birds throughout the year, while seasonal migrants further enrich its biodiversity during the winter months. As with many urban and rural wetlands, Marasandra Kere faces challenges from pollution, encroachment, invasive vegetation, and changing land use around the lake.
