Bird Walk at Narsinghgarh Wildlife Sanctuary (MP)

About Narsinghgarh Wildlife Sanctuary

Narsinghgarh Wildlife Sanctuary lies in the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh and spans a mosaic of hills, forests, and grasslands across a large protected landscape. The area is part of the Vindhyan ranges and supports diverse vegetation including dry deciduous forests of teak, salai, kardhai, bamboo, and mixed woodland. Numerous streams and the Narsinghgarh Lake add wetland patches that increase habitat diversity for wildlife.
The sanctuary is known for rich mammalian life including leopards, chinkara, sloth bear, jackal, and several small carnivores. Birdlife is abundant with resident forest birds, waterbirds, and seasonal migrants. It holds high conservation importance as one of the green lungs of central India but faces threats such as habitat fragmentation, grazing, encroachment, and pressure from nearby human settlements.
