SUMMARY:Bird Walk at Lonikand Reservoir\, Pune\, Maharashtra
DESCRIPTION:Bird Walk at Sunder Nursery\, New Delhi \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n New Delhi\n \n \n \n \n 12 April\, 2026\n \n \n \n \n Neha Walani\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About Sunder Nursery \n \n \n \n Nestled in the heart of New Delhi\, Sunder Nursery is a beautifully restored urban biodiversity park that seamlessly blends heritage\, ecology\, and landscape design. Spread across lush gardens\, water channels\, orchards\, and wooded patches\, the area supports a rich variety of flora—from native trees and flowering plants to carefully curated Mughal-era plantings. These diverse habitats attract insects\, butterflies\, and small mammals\, creating a thriving green oasis amidst the city’s fast-paced environment. Historic monuments scattered across the landscape add to its charm\, making every walk here both a cultural and ecological experience. \n \n \n \n For birders\, Sunder Nursery offers an accessible yet rewarding introduction to urban birdwatching. The mix of dense foliage\, open lawns\, and water bodies supports a variety of resident and migratory birds\, from sunbirds and parakeets to woodpeckers and winter visitors. Early mornings are especially vibrant\, with birdsong echoing through the gardens and activity unfolding at every turn. However\, being an urban green space\, it faces challenges such as human disturbance\, noise\, and habitat pressure from surrounding development. Continued conservation efforts\, mindful visitor behaviour\, and habitat management are essential to ensure that Sunder Nursery remains a thriving refuge for biodiversity and a peaceful escape for nature enthusiasts. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Bird Guide: Neha WalaniWorking in the field of sustainability for over eight years\, she has experience across air pollution\, climate change\, and solid waste management. An avid gardener and nature lover\, she has been birdwatching for around a decade and has explored sites like Keoladeo National Park\, Sultanpur National Park\, and Okhla Bird Sanctuary. She recently hosted a bird walk as part of the Great Backyard Bird Count. \n \n \n \n \n Bird walk Location \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Common birds of Sunder Nursery \n \n \n \n At Sunder Nursery in New Delhi\, birdlife thrives in a vibrant mix of water bodies\, wooded patches\, and open gardens\, creating a rich and dynamic urban birding experience. The nursery’s ponds attract waterbirds like Gadwall and Indian Spot-billed Ducks\, while the elegant Red-naped Ibis and ever-watchful Red-wattled Lapwings add character to the landscape. Overhead\, Black Kites soar effortlessly\, and the sharp calls of White-throated Kingfishers echo near the water’s edge. The presence of large flocks of European Starlings adds a sense of movement and energy\, especially as they sweep across the sky in synchrony.\n\nAmong the trees and shrubs\, the garden comes alive with colour and sound. Parakeets chatter loudly\, bulbuls move busily through foliage\, and species like Common Tailorbird and Ashy Prinia flit constantly between branches. Greater Coucals and Asian Koels add depth to the soundscape\, while Rufous Treepies and Oriental Magpie-Robins bring both drama and melody to the surroundings. From the subtle beauty of doves to the shimmering presence of Purple Sunbirds\, every corner of Sunder Nursery offers a new discovery—making it a perfect blend of accessibility and biodiversity for bird enthusiasts. \n \n \n \n \n Ashy Prinia \n \n \n \n Red-vented Bulbul \n \n \n \n Oriental Magpie Robin \n \n \n \n Brown-headed Barbet \n \n \n \n Yellow-footed Green Pigeon \n \n \n \n Asian Pied Starling \n \n \n \n Coppersmith Barbet \n \n \n \n Black Drongo \n \n \n \n Spot-billed Duck \n \n \n \n Rose-ringed Parakeet \n \n \n \n White-throated Kingfisher \n \n \n \n Common Myna \n \n \n \n Eastern Cattle Egret \n \n \n \n Indian Grey Hornbill \n \n \n \n Purple Sunbird \n \n \n \n Black Kite \n \n \n \n Eurasian Moorhen \n \n \n \n Indian Pond Heron \n \n \n \n Red-wattled Lapwing \n \n \n \n Asian Koel \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Summary of Walk \n \n \n \n \nThis walk combined birding with a broader nature-learning experience in an urban biodiversity park. Participants recorded 21 species\, including Eurasian Collared Dove\, Indian Grey Hornbill\, Rosy Starling\, Little Grebe\, and Yellow-footed Green Pigeon. The diversity reflected the mix of woodland and water features within the nursery.\n \n \n \n \n A unique aspect of this walk was the integration of tree knowledge alongside birding\, which participants greatly appreciated. The nursery’s ponds attract waterbirds like Gadwall and Indian Spot-billed Ducks\, while the elegant Red-naped Ibis and ever-watchful Red-wattled Lapwings add character to the landscape. Overhead\, Black Kites soar effortlessly\, and the sharp calls of White-throated Kingfishers echo near the water’s edge. The presence of large flocks of European Starlings adds a sense of movement and energy\, especially as they sweep across the sky in synchrony.\n\nAmong the trees and shrubs\, the garden comes alive with colour and sound. Parakeets chatter loudly\, bulbuls move busily through foliage\, and species like Common Tailorbird and Ashy Prinia flit constantly between branches. Greater Coucals and Asian Koels add depth to the soundscape\, while Rufous Treepies and Oriental Magpie-Robins bring both drama and melody to the surroundings. From the subtle beauty of doves to the shimmering presence of Purple Sunbirds\, every corner of Sunder Nursery offers a new discovery—making it a perfect blend of accessibility and biodiversity for bird enthusiasts. \n \n \n \n \n Ashy Prinia \n \n \n \n Red-vented Bulbul \n \n \n \n Oriental Magpie Robin \n \n \n \n Brown-headed Barbet \n \n \n \n Yellow-footed Green Pigeon \n \n \n \n Asian Pied Starling \n \n \n \n Coppersmith Barbet \n \n \n \n Black Drongo \n \n \n \n Spot-billed Duck \n \n \n \n Rose-ringed Parakeet \n \n \n \n White-throated Kingfisher \n \n \n \n Common Myna \n \n \n \n Eastern Cattle Egret \n \n \n \n Indian Grey Hornbill \n \n \n \n Purple Sunbird \n \n \n \n Black Kite \n \n \n \n Eurasian Moorhen \n \n \n \n Indian Pond Heron \n \n \n \n Red-wattled Lapwing \n \n \n \n Asian Koel \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Summary of Walk \n \n \n \n \nThis walk combined birding with a broader nature-learning experience in an urban biodiversity park. The mix of dense foliage\, open lawns\, and water bodies supports a variety of resident and migratory birds\, from sunbirds and parakeets to woodpeckers and winter visitors. DESCRIPTION:Bird Walk at Sunder Nursery\, New Delhi \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n New Delhi\n \n \n \n \n 12 April\, 2026\n \n \n \n \n Neha Walani\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About Sunder Nursery \n \n \n \n Nestled in the heart of New Delhi\, Sunder Nursery is a beautifully restored urban biodiversity park that seamlessly blends heritage\, ecology\, and landscape design. Spread across lush gardens\, water channels\, orchards\, and wooded patches\, the area supports a rich variety of flora—from native trees and flowering plants to carefully curated Mughal-era plantings. These diverse habitats attract insects\, butterflies\, and small mammals\, creating a thriving green oasis amidst the city’s fast-paced environment. Historic monuments scattered across the landscape add to its charm\, making every walk here both a cultural and ecological experience. \n \n \n \n For birders\, Sunder Nursery offers an accessible yet rewarding introduction to urban birdwatching. The mix of dense foliage\, open lawns\, and water bodies supports a variety of resident and migratory birds\, from sunbirds and parakeets to woodpeckers and winter visitors. Early mornings are especially vibrant\, with birdsong echoing through the gardens and activity unfolding at every turn. However\, being an urban green space\, it faces challenges such as human disturbance\, noise\, and habitat pressure from surrounding development. Continued conservation efforts\, mindful visitor behaviour\, and habitat management are essential to ensure that Sunder Nursery remains a thriving refuge for biodiversity and a peaceful escape for nature enthusiasts. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Bird Guide: Neha WalaniWorking in the field of sustainability for over eight years\, she has experience across air pollution\, climate change\, and solid waste management. An avid gardener and nature lover\, she has been birdwatching for around a decade and has explored sites like Keoladeo National Park\, Sultanpur National Park\, and Okhla Bird Sanctuary. She recently hosted a bird walk as part of the Great Backyard Bird Count. \n \n \n \n \n Bird walk Location \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Common birds of Sunder Nursery \n \n \n \n At Sunder Nursery in New Delhi\, birdlife thrives in a vibrant mix of water bodies\, wooded patches\, and open gardens\, creating a rich and dynamic urban birding experience. The nursery’s ponds attract waterbirds like Gadwall and Indian Spot-billed Ducks\, while the elegant Red-naped Ibis and ever-watchful Red-wattled Lapwings add character to the landscape. Overhead\, Black Kites soar effortlessly\, and the sharp calls of White-throated Kingfishers echo near the water’s edge. The presence of large flocks of European Starlings adds a sense of movement and energy\, especially as they sweep across the sky in synchrony.\n\nAmong the trees and shrubs\, the garden comes alive with colour and sound. Parakeets chatter loudly\, bulbuls move busily through foliage\, and species like Common Tailorbird and Ashy Prinia flit constantly between branches. Greater Coucals and Asian Koels add depth to the soundscape\, while Rufous Treepies and Oriental Magpie-Robins bring both drama and melody to the surroundings. From the subtle beauty of doves to the shimmering presence of Purple Sunbirds\, every corner of Sunder Nursery offers a new discovery—making it a perfect blend of accessibility and biodiversity for bird enthusiasts. \n \n \n \n \n Ashy Prinia \n \n \n \n Red-vented Bulbul \n \n \n \n Oriental Magpie Robin \n \n \n \n Brown-headed Barbet \n \n \n \n Yellow-footed Green Pigeon \n \n \n \n Asian Pied Starling \n \n \n \n Coppersmith Barbet \n \n \n \n Black Drongo \n \n \n \n Spot-billed Duck \n \n \n \n Rose-ringed Parakeet \n \n \n \n White-throated Kingfisher \n \n \n \n Common Myna \n \n \n \n Eastern Cattle Egret \n \n \n \n Indian Grey Hornbill \n \n \n \n Purple Sunbird \n \n \n \n Black Kite \n \n \n \n Eurasian Moorhen \n \n \n \n Indian Pond Heron \n \n \n \n Red-wattled Lapwing \n \n \n \n Asian Koel \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Summary of Walk \n \n \n \n \nThis walk combined birding with a broader nature-learning experience in an urban biodiversity park. Greater Coucals and Asian Koels add depth to the soundscape\, while Rufous Treepies and Oriental Magpie-Robins bring both drama and melody to the surroundings. From the subtle beauty of doves to the shimmering presence of Purple Sunbirds\, every corner of Sunder Nursery offers a new discovery—making it a perfect blend of accessibility and biodiversity for bird enthusiasts. \n \n \n \n \n Ashy Prinia \n \n \n \n Red-vented Bulbul \n \n \n \n Oriental Magpie Robin \n \n \n \n Brown-headed Barbet \n \n \n \n Yellow-footed Green Pigeon \n \n \n \n Asian Pied Starling \n \n \n \n Coppersmith Barbet \n \n \n \n Black Drongo \n \n \n \n Spot-billed Duck \n \n \n \n Rose-ringed Parakeet \n \n \n \n White-throated Kingfisher \n \n \n \n Common Myna \n \n \n \n Eastern Cattle Egret \n \n \n \n Indian Grey Hornbill \n \n \n \n Purple Sunbird \n \n \n \n Black Kite \n \n \n \n Eurasian Moorhen \n \n \n \n Indian Pond Heron \n \n \n \n Red-wattled Lapwing \n \n \n \n Asian Koel \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Summary of Walk \n \n \n \n \nThis walk combined birding with a broader nature-learning experience in an urban biodiversity park. However\, being an urban green space\, it faces challenges such as human disturbance\, noise\, and habitat pressure from surrounding development. DESCRIPTION:Bird Walk at Sunder Nursery\, New Delhi \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n New Delhi\n \n \n \n \n 12 April\, 2026\n \n \n \n \n Neha Walani\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About Sunder Nursery \n \n \n \n Nestled in the heart of New Delhi\, Sunder Nursery is a beautifully restored urban biodiversity park that seamlessly blends heritage\, ecology\, and landscape design. Spread across lush gardens\, water channels\, orchards\, and wooded patches\, the area supports a rich variety of flora—from native trees and flowering plants to carefully curated Mughal-era plantings. These diverse habitats attract insects\, butterflies\, and small mammals\, creating a thriving green oasis amidst the city’s fast-paced environment. Historic monuments scattered across the landscape add to its charm\, making every walk here both a cultural and ecological experience. \n \n \n \n For birders\, Sunder Nursery offers an accessible yet rewarding introduction to urban birdwatching. The mix of dense foliage\, open lawns\, and water bodies supports a variety of resident and migratory birds\, from sunbirds and parakeets to woodpeckers and winter visitors. Early mornings are especially vibrant\, with birdsong echoing through the gardens and activity unfolding at every turn. However\, being an urban green space\, it faces challenges such as human disturbance\, noise\, and habitat pressure from surrounding development. Continued conservation efforts\, mindful visitor behaviour\, and habitat management are essential to ensure that Sunder Nursery remains a thriving refuge for biodiversity and a peaceful escape for nature enthusiasts. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Bird Guide: Neha WalaniWorking in the field of sustainability for over eight years\, she has experience across air pollution\, climate change\, and solid waste management. An avid gardener and nature lover\, she has been birdwatching for around a decade and has explored sites like Keoladeo National Park\, Sultanpur National Park\, and Okhla Bird Sanctuary. She recently hosted a bird walk as part of the Great Backyard Bird Count. \n \n \n \n \n Bird walk Location \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Common birds of Sunder Nursery \n \n \n \n At Sunder Nursery in New Delhi\, birdlife thrives in a vibrant mix of water bodies\, wooded patches\, and open gardens\, creating a rich and dynamic urban birding experience. The nursery’s ponds attract waterbirds like Gadwall and Indian Spot-billed Ducks\, while the elegant Red-naped Ibis and ever-watchful Red-wattled Lapwings add character to the landscape. Overhead\, Black Kites soar effortlessly\, and the sharp calls of White-throated Kingfishers echo near the water’s edge. The presence of large flocks of European Starlings adds a sense of movement and energy\, especially as they sweep across the sky in synchrony.\n\nAmong the trees and shrubs\, the garden comes alive with colour and sound. Parakeets chatter loudly\, bulbuls move busily through foliage\, and species like Common Tailorbird and Ashy Prinia flit constantly between branches. Greater Coucals and Asian Koels add depth to the soundscape\, while Rufous Treepies and Oriental Magpie-Robins bring both drama and melody to the surroundings. From the subtle beauty of doves to the shimmering presence of Purple Sunbirds\, every corner of Sunder Nursery offers a new discovery—making it a perfect blend of accessibility and biodiversity for bird enthusiasts. \n \n \n \n \n Ashy Prinia \n \n \n \n Red-vented Bulbul \n \n \n \n Oriental Magpie Robin \n \n \n \n Brown-headed Barbet \n \n \n \n Yellow-footed Green Pigeon \n \n \n \n Asian Pied Starling \n \n \n \n Coppersmith Barbet \n \n \n \n Black Drongo \n \n \n \n Spot-billed Duck \n \n \n \n Rose-ringed Parakeet \n \n \n \n White-throated Kingfisher \n \n \n \n Common Myna \n \n \n \n Eastern Cattle Egret \n \n \n \n Indian Grey Hornbill \n \n \n \n Purple Sunbird \n \n \n \n Black Kite \n \n \n \n Eurasian Moorhen \n \n \n \n Indian Pond Heron \n \n \n \n Red-wattled Lapwing \n \n \n \n Asian Koel \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Summary of Walk \n \n \n \n \nThis walk combined birding with a broader nature-learning experience in an urban biodiversity park. DESCRIPTION:Bird Walk at Sunder Nursery\, New Delhi \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n New Delhi\n \n \n \n \n 12 April\, 2026\n \n \n \n \n Neha Walani\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About Sunder Nursery \n \n \n \n Nestled in the heart of New Delhi\, Sunder Nursery is a beautifully restored urban biodiversity park that seamlessly blends heritage\, ecology\, and landscape design. Spread across lush gardens\, water channels\, orchards\, and wooded patches\, the area supports a rich variety of flora—from native trees and flowering plants to carefully curated Mughal-era plantings. These diverse habitats attract insects\, butterflies\, and small mammals\, creating a thriving green oasis amidst the city’s fast-paced environment. Historic monuments scattered across the landscape add to its charm\, making every walk here both a cultural and ecological experience. \n \n \n \n For birders\, Sunder Nursery offers an accessible yet rewarding introduction to urban birdwatching. The mix of dense foliage\, open lawns\, and water bodies supports a variety of resident and migratory birds\, from sunbirds and parakeets to woodpeckers and winter visitors. Early mornings are especially vibrant\, with birdsong echoing through the gardens and activity unfolding at every turn. However\, being an urban green space\, it faces challenges such as human disturbance\, noise\, and habitat pressure from surrounding development. Continued conservation efforts\, mindful visitor behaviour\, and habitat management are essential to ensure that Sunder Nursery remains a thriving refuge for biodiversity and a peaceful escape for nature enthusiasts. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Bird Guide: Neha WalaniWorking in the field of sustainability for over eight years\, she has experience across air pollution\, climate change\, and solid waste management. An avid gardener and nature lover\, she has been birdwatching for around a decade and has explored sites like Keoladeo National Park\, Sultanpur National Park\, and Okhla Bird Sanctuary. She recently hosted a bird walk as part of the Great Backyard Bird Count. \n \n \n \n \n Bird walk Location \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Common birds of Sunder Nursery \n \n \n \n At Sunder Nursery in New Delhi\, birdlife thrives in a vibrant mix of water bodies\, wooded patches\, and open gardens\, creating a rich and dynamic urban birding experience. The nursery’s ponds attract waterbirds like Gadwall and Indian Spot-billed Ducks\, while the elegant Red-naped Ibis and ever-watchful Red-wattled Lapwings add character to the landscape. Overhead\, Black Kites soar effortlessly\, and the sharp calls of White-throated Kingfishers echo near the water’s edge. The presence of large flocks of European Starlings adds a sense of movement and energy\, especially as they sweep across the sky in synchrony.\n\nAmong the trees and shrubs\, the garden comes alive with colour and sound. Parakeets chatter loudly\, bulbuls move busily through foliage\, and species like Common Tailorbird and Ashy Prinia flit constantly between branches. Greater Coucals and Asian Koels add depth to the soundscape\, while Rufous Treepies and Oriental Magpie-Robins bring both drama and melody to the surroundings. From the subtle beauty of doves to the shimmering presence of Purple Sunbirds\, every corner of Sunder Nursery offers a new discovery—making it a perfect blend of accessibility and biodiversity for bird enthusiasts. \n \n \n \n \n Ashy Prinia \n \n \n \n Red-vented Bulbul \n \n \n \n Oriental Magpie Robin \n \n \n \n Brown-headed Barbet \n \n \n \n Yellow-footed Green Pigeon \n \n \n \n Asian Pied Starling \n \n \n \n Coppersmith Barbet \n \n \n \n Black Drongo \n \n \n \n Spot-billed Duck \n \n \n \n Rose-ringed Parakeet \n \n \n \n White-throated Kingfisher \n \n \n \n Common Myna \n \n \n \n Eastern Cattle Egret \n \n \n \n Indian Grey Hornbill \n \n \n \n Purple Sunbird \n \n \n \n Black Kite \n \n \n \n Eurasian Moorhen \n \n \n \n Indian Pond Heron \n \n \n \n Red-wattled Lapwing \n \n \n \n Asian Koel \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Summary of Walk \n \n \n \n \nThis walk combined birding with a broader nature-learning experience in an urban biodiversity park.
